Blaster - Any time you intend to change the balance of the bike [removing tires] ALWAYS strap the bike down to the lift like you see his done. A good ratchet strap will do the trick. If you don't... you will be picking it up from the floor.
AGREED! i strap up every time i lift it! EVERY TIME!!! i had a bike i just got done painting fall off a lift once when my girl move the handle bars... brand new paint, flames, candy, and clear clear clear... destroyed! when you are working with a candy it will never match unless your redo everything! IMO... so i had to reshoot all the tins (after i fixed the tank) it was not her fault at all it was my own, even though at the moment I did not see it that way oops... blah blah blah moral:
STRAP UP!
Safe but a little overkill, you'd be strapping and unstrapping till the cows come home during a normal fluid change most of the fluids need to be checked on the side stand but need to be drained, plugged and unplugged on the lift.I use my ratchet straps for allot of stuff but it's really not practical all the time, sometimes I roll my lift out to the driveway just to wash and dry the wheels.
SO tonight i got the front tire off... finished up the wires to the rear and put on the final signals back there... could not decide where to put the ones on the front... neeed to think on that one... i ran the wires under the fende after i shrink wrapped the internal fender supports (fan the wires under the shrink wrap to keep them tight... looks good IMO... much more to come!!! ohhh ya so many people where asking about the fork bag stereo and how it sounds i put it up on youtube for you guys to check out! have a good one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGkBlyyQGs8
here are a few of the wiring i did under the fender... everything is shrink wraped, soldered, and then encased in a protective sleeve... i really like how it looks without the fender stut covers (sorry the chrome covers that where on there are spoken for already)
in the backround you can see the new banner we just got! thanks Nathan... NO PRICE LIKE FREE!!!
alright! so... finished up the internal wireing... thanks powdercoater anddklozik for the tips.... one thing i would offer as advice... run the lines from the controls down to the neck of the bike rather than from the riser area up to the controls... it was a pain in the @$$ to get the extra wire tucked into the bars so i had to pull it out from the bottom and clean it up down there... no big deal just alot of soldering and shrink wrap! LOOKS GREAT!
I also got the front turn sigs buttoned up... i took one of our LED light pods we use when we hook up a light kit, i pulled the high intensity LED bulbs in and put in ultra intensity bulbs... they are VERY bright...I also removed the running light line, tucked that away and will use that as a alt power source later... but here are some pics! the front turn sigs are a bit harder to see they are right under my headlight!
Lookin good so far. Very clever with the front turn signals. So, you got rid of the front running lights and they will only flash? On to the internal wiring. Are those stock street bob bars? If so did you just drill them for the wiring? I like the feel of my bars any would love the clean look of internal wires.
