I have to say, it looks like the Fat Bob will be THE Dyna seller of the year. I like the looks of it, especially with the Screaming Eagle pipes that Deanz has on his.
I feel the Fat Bob looks like a cross between several bikes and take all the best from them. I personaly love mine. and thought of getting a Super Glide or Fat Boy till the Fat Bob came out. When I saw it on the show room floor I really fell in love with it.
jakeiniraq - I think your bike is the best lookin one in the Dyna Forums- Great job on it bro ! I really love the paint and customizing you have done. I was thinking of a ghostly skull design on my Bob and your bike gives me some Ideas.
SW, thanks for the compliment, it is greatly appreciated. Would you believe it if I told you that I had a head start when I bought the bike? The paint on it is Harley factory custom paint. Mine is number 22 out of 75 made. When you start with a paint job that looks that good, it kind of inspires you to build on it. You just have to be careful not to go overboard and to know when enough is enough. I'm afraid I won't know when I've reached that point. Hopefully the folks here will say something...lol

Honestly, I think the rims and that rear tire are a little too much Jake. If you want, I'll trade you mine so your bike doesn't look too gaudy. Don't thank me for offering, I'm just that kinda guy...

You weren't happy with just taking the pipes, huh? You had to go that extra step and take the wheels and tires too! Let me guess, you'll want the matching belt pully too, right?

Not too keen on those SE pipes. While waiting for my FB, I found Rush pipes that look like the original set-up but have the performance & sound. Cheaper than SEs too!
Gotta lovea know-it-all (not really). I don't hold it against anyone if they're mistaken about something, but when they won't listen or even consider that they may be wrong, I just stop talking or change the subject. No use beating your head against a wall.
I think the Fat Bob was certainly inspired by the Fat Boy, but that's not a bad thing. The Fat Boy is a very popular bike and it makes sense that HD would want to capitalize on that success and appeal to a wider customer base by expanding the Dyna line. Keep in mind that "inspired by" does not mean "inferior to." I wonder if we'd have all these Softail-vs-Dyna discussions if they were priced the same.
I read an article in the Daily Telegraph (a British newspaper) that stated:
"The Fat Bob look reflects European custom trends, which means a double headlamp and fat front tyre with big twin discs. Harley's sales are slowing in the US, so the company's new concentration on European expansion has come at an opportune moment."
If this is correct (and I believe it is), the Fat Bob styling has little to do with the Fat Boy. Motorcycle sales in Britain have increased by 33% since 2000 and this is typical throughout Europe and Harley obviously want a slice of the pie. I read that the Street Bob is the fastest selling Harley of all time in Europe and according to my local dealer the Fat Bob is going to be a big seller this year.

Just trying to help you out with your bike brother.
I worked too hard on installing my cheap little pulley cover to take your pulley too. I've still got a sore on my hand that is healing from gouging a hunk out of it trying to get the rear wheel off. Then again, I would want everything to match.
When I set out to get a bike I chose between the Fat Boy, Super Glide, and then saw info on the Fat bob and when I found one to sit on I knew it was right. I like the Fat boys, but it is a completely different feel and the way you sit. Fat Bob fit me better. They are very different. I beleive the term Fat Bob relates to the tank and the originalbike by harley.
