RE: Financing a bike - a young guy needs some advice
I must agree with others here. Try the Base Credit union if you have one. I had 2 friends that bought their first bikes through the Credit Union way back when. Both used the Military Base's Credit Union. If your puting money down it should increase your odds of getting a loan. Good luck and thanks for serving your country!

Hey LT, you might want to give USAA a try...a few months back they were offering a commission loan for 25k at 2%...know a lot of my OCS buddies bought their bikes with it. Otherwise, shop around. There are plenty of bikes out there to pick from...new and used. But don't settle on something you won't be happy with because it is cheaper. Just keep lookin'. Just advice from one Lt to another.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Kev- how are you liking Ft. Hood? I was born and raised in Copperas Cove. Lived there until college. It is a great location to get around the state - right in the middle. The scenery is the kind only a mother wouldlove, though...

I like the area...great place to be if you have a bike...not far from Hill Country...Luckenback...San Antonio. Hood is it's own monster though. We had about half of our basic course get stationed here and most of us have harley's in some form. Got my second in July and with the weather here...you can ride all the time. But seriously, look into one of the Credit Unions or USAA. There is always a better deal out there!

hey just a word to the wise....If yor gonna hit the banks, credit unions, dealerships, etc. do it all within 14 days of the first one....it only dings your FICO one time, and and FYI and inquiry costs you 12 fico points....my wife makes a living doing credit repair
RE: Financing a bike - a young guy needs some advice
Take a look at a 105th anniv bike. They are offering 1.05%/36 months with 10% down with good credit. There is not a bank on earth that will offer that deal. You will really be able to pay off this loan very fast with a low rate and shorter term. You will want to pay off as many loans as you can before youbuy a house.
