When moving from Florida to Nevada I needed to build a trailer for my Seadoo.
As mentioned above by someone, that garden one won't cut it.
I ended up getting one at Harbor Freight for about $100 or so on sale, then modified it for the seadoo.
This was back in '99', and I pulled it behind my Z-28 averaging about 85 -90 mph much of the way. Hubs never got hot and trailer still running today in Texas after I sold it to a friend of mine while living there.
That trailer has more miles on it than most, and is one tuff SOB.
Just checked the Harbor Frieght website, they still have a similar one for $139, maybe it will go on sale, not sure, but it could be a good easy start, frame, wheels, shocks, hitch, lights, can't beat it!
And yeah, I know some of you are gonna say Harbor Freight has junk, but this thing diagonally crossed the country loaded at fairly high speeds, saw salt water, fresh water, hot climate, freezing climate.
After all that, pulled to San Antonio from Reno, again, hubs never heating up.
Harbor Freight might have some crap, but not this time.
I like that last one! I am going to make a hitch myself, so that it will slide under either side of my swing arm and bolt in... one of the guys i ride with is a machinist... just not very creative... so i will design it and he can make it... that last pic of the tear drop is more what i am going for... i have no problem making it on my own i just do not want to go over 200 bucks... if it will cost over that i will simply not do it (unless the ricers that i ride with want to pay for it! ha ha ha)
you will want to design it to attach to your struct mounts, not your swingarm. you will get to much of a rigid bounce to mount to your swingarm. when you mount it to your struct mounts it will be more of a relax bounce, so you wont lose your trailer when you hit a pot hole. check out some other hitches to, before you design yours, just to be safe. jackyl
It was my understanding that you couldn't put a trailer hitch on a Dyna.
Or,it it just that no one makes a hitch for a Dyna?
Yeah, they are out there...you just see alot of the mount...baggers and other bikes the mount is hidden under the fender and bags....there are chrome ones that do not look too bad...and I guess you can remove them when not in use.
as for the trailer, you can certainly go with a HF and make your own. there are issues you need to be concerned about, such as wheel size, leaf springs, etc.
or there are custom trailers from Bushtec, Tailwind, etc that are made specifically for MCs. I have a Bushtec that I pull behind my UC that IMHO is clearly one of the best. However, it is spendy and you can build one from a HF trailer kit. Depending what you want and expect, you get what you pay for.
