so since i have the "big bike" out of my buddies i am going to be creating a pull behind trailer for my bike... this will make our camping trips, road trips, and bike shows so much easier... I have never built a trailer for a bike and any advice would be great!
here is what i am thinking.... I want to get a yard utility trailer like you pull behind a quad or lawn mower, cut the top off and get a shell like you see on top of mini vans when they are on vacation... bolt that to the trailer and then fiber glass it all together, bondo, and paint.... The trailer will be the easy part... i am more worried about the hitch... anything i should know on this issue?
something like this for the trailer... yes i realize that i will need diff wheels and tires
Those trailers are not road worthy, you"ll need springs and preferably shocks, I towed one behind a Kawasaki Z1 in the mid 80's and had no problems. Mine had a Sears cartop box attached to a very small framed trailer, the lighter the better ( aluminum preferred ).
Good luck, you'll enjoy it.
I like that last one! I am going to make a hitch myself, so that it will slide under either side of my swing arm and bolt in... one of the guys i ride with is a machinist... just not very creative... so i will design it and he can make it... that last pic of the tear drop is more what i am going for... i have no problem making it on my own i just do not want to go over 200 bucks... if it will cost over that i will simply not do it (unless the ricers that i ride with want to pay for it! ha ha ha)
