can I install a set of rush slip-ons on my 08 fxdc without any air cleaner or programming work? will it run the same it does now? is a power commander ready to be plugged in and used out of the box,or does it need to be programmed? I am wanting some more sound from my bike but don't know about everything else, this is all new to me.
Robert, you should be able to do it. I have a friend that ran Rush mufflers with 2" baffles and a SE air cleaner with no ECM modification for a year. He recently added a program commander though and his bike is really running top notch now after getting it dyno-tuned. I ran SE II slipons for several months with no other mods with no issues. I was originally going to go with Rush though and I called them to ask them this very question. They cautioned me to stay with 2" or smaller baffles if I wasn't going to get a download or a tuner.
Yes the PCIII can be programmed with "canned" maps but it is not plug-n-play as in take it out of the box, plug it in and ride. It must be set with some sort of program consistent with your setup. But that doesn't have to be done by a tech and/or on a dyno as I understand it.
Rush makes good sounding slipons and the nice thing about them is you can change baffles without having to buy all new pipes/mufflers - just buy the baffles.
Good advice so far!! As long as you stick with a Rush 2.0 or lower you are fine! Just slip them on and enjoy! You will get some back fire on deceleration. Your plugs might be a little lean but depends on your riding style.
I sold my Rush 2.0 because I hit the throttle none stop with low gear and found I was running way to lean. I also found the Rush way too loud for my old ***! I bought some SEII off of ebay for $80 and I like the sound a little quieter and found they are less lean on the engine.
If you want to add the PCIII as a plug n play, contact Fuel Moto, they will preload one for you with a preset by them map to the mods you are planning and it has other benifits as well, also they will send you a new map when you add more options later if you choose to. I am planning on getting one from them, from what I have been told they are extreamly close on settings and will help you adjust as part of their warenty as needed.
I was going with their Rush slip ons till I saw a pic of them and realized they are almost identical in shape and size as the OEM, which in itelf is not a problem with me at all except Im on a Fat Bob and scrape when I corner hard now, dont wanna put up good money on mufflers i am just gonna tear up so I went with diferet pipes.
You can hear the Rush pipes here. http://www.epiflex.com/rush_dyna.html
