Well here is my opinion. I chose to ride it for awhile before switching out the pipes and the stage 1 kit.
I did this to help the motor seat better, but many say not to worry about it and go for it from the beginning. Its a personnal preference choice really.
Vance and Hines is a very popular exhaust on the boards.. I have the big shot staggards, I like them.
If I could do anything different and steer you in the right direction I would say get a power commander or something of the like to deal with the fuel injection.
Good luck and congrats.

Hi Gian, welcome to the forums from New Zealand. I had not considered PC - looking at that now.

I was in the same boat just 3 days ago; should I do this before the 1000 mile service? Yesterday I had the dealer do stage 1 with Screamin's eagle II's, the air filter kit and stage I download before I took deliver later in the afternoon just yesterday. Bike was at 11 miles when I picked it up.

The reason? Having the sound and performance right there from day one and minimizing downtime. A few buddies of mine convinced me of this

Now the talk of the factory stage 1 download being a bit on the lean side is certainly true and the degree of leanness depends on your individual bike. Mine is just very slightly lean but with no ill effects of popping on deceleration, surging or flat spots. If it were a carb bike, I'd probably put one shim on the needle and be done. With fuel injection, a DFO or power commander on top of the factory stage one flash would would dial it in the rest of the way. The jury is still out on this for my bike since I'm not getting flat spots or lean running symptons but I still might do it on a dyno with an aftermarket device.

DO IT!

I'm with Fl_99, I had my pipes and download done before I took delivery. I just couldn't stand it that quiet I only have 16 miles on the bike, and can't ride right now due to weather. I'd say get it done now, it is nice to have it there right from the start.

TT

well with the screaming eagle ll slash downs & k & n filter and the power commander installed it work great for me no problems anywhere in the throttling or exhaust. my contact with PC instructed me to just install with the map it came with and it should be good to go he was absolutely correct and the added performance in great. my mileage has gotten better also. oh my street bob has ,was and is stock ecm flash.

I'm in the same boat. I have almost 400 miles now ( thank you California ) & have the scratch to order my pipes & SE A/C. I'm gonna wait a little longer, but the washing machine sound from the pipes is getting to me. Time for the noise. I'm just going with SEII slips ( baloney ) & the SE A/C & download. The bike has plenty of power for me now, & not really looking for a whole lot more.

Later
Chap

Hi Gian. Congrats on the new street glide. I know your excited, with your new bike and all, but what's the hurry. I say ride it awhile, get to know what it feels like in the power dept so when you do mod it you'll appreciate it more. Also gives you time to think it all out better. I've made a few of them hurry up mistakes myself. Good luck with what ever you do and maybe someday "we'll see you on the road."
