it wasn't even that, it was I bought the product late at night, and mistook the proper part number for an incorrect one. my dumbass fault, oh well live and learn right? hopefully these guys are able to change them out, if not they go back up on ebay and the forums to try and make my money back
I just double checked the part number 412-4005B I couldn't find it anywhere on Progressives website.I checked all the Dyna parts numbers,Sportsters and FLs Didn't see it.That doesn't neccessarily mean it won't work just that it probably wasn't made for a Dyna.
I know there has been some debate about it, but I jsut ordered a set of black ones off of ebay for 159 + 12 bucks shipping from american classic motors (I am 99% sure that was the proper name). there have been a couple that have complained about their customer service, but I have ordered at least 1 time before through them and the price is right. I will post up pics and a review when I get them (about 2 weeks from their email).
I checked eastern performance cycles but I didn't see them in black, and I knew they were on ebay because I see them almost every time i check, but lately the have been selling for 199 + shipping so I jumped on the set for 159
Be careful about buying them on fleabay. Many sellers give a blanket description about which bike they'll fit, but they don't have the right part number. ie, I'm sure that you could get a Sportster shock to fit a Dyna, but the spring rates won't be right. Just because it "Fits on Dyna/Sportster" doesn't mean it's the right shock.
The 11" standard duty for Dyna is P/N 412-4037B/C (B for black or C for chrome)
That's exactly the problem I had with ACM. Sold me Sporty shocks for a Dyna, #412-4005B, IIRC. The idiot seems to know nothing about spring rates or even the effects of gravity, for that matter. I wouldn't **** on his head if his hair was on fire.[:@]
We will see what happens I just email the seller, and the emailed me back within the last 20 min, they have been shipped out so I asked if I can return and exchange for the proper ones. hopefully I get a response as quickly again. I feel like a dumbass, they didn't mislead me I thought I had the right number.
Good news, ACM jsut exchanged a few emails with me and will accpet a return, and send out the proper part, so far I cannot say they have bad service. I am pretty stoked with how quickly they got back to me especially on a sunday night with a 3 hour difference. I will definately post when all this gets taken care of
i've got a '04 FXDX and i weigh around 165lbs, just bought the 13's of 412s. I'm only 5'7 and still able to set the foot comfortably flat on the ground. Before i got out from the dealer, i was getting 12.5s which then had'em installed on the bike (i thought the stocks were 13, but later on we found out they were 13.5), but as i tried to sit on the bike, it went down too low and the rear mud guard was just about 1.5inches from the belt cover. I occasionally ride with my wife, imagine if running over a road hole or speed bump. So, the guys from the shop had them off and put the 13s on. Luckily the 13s just came in the shop. Couldnt be bothered waiting.
so i say, may be u should try first before installing the 11s, too low. unless u modify the rear swing arm and the mud guard.
I got a set throught J&P, however I payed more than what I am seeing listed here.. went with 11" heavyduty's . Hoping they will be ok as I am 220 , ride solo most of time.
i bought mine from onestopmoto for my fat bob but they scrapped on the test ride severely. sent them back for the stock length and LOVE them. switched out the front springs as well. i think they were $210ish maybe less
What did you mean by this? Where they the HDs? What preload setting were they on? Where they 11", 12" or 12.6"???? Please give more info, I'm looking to add a pair to my Fat Bob.
