05... so you are top mounted....
There is a guy who replaced his headlight and it goes above the trees.
thing is I do not believe you can do much... you can get a chrome bezel(if you don't have the custom).
I added a new trim ring to mine...H-D visor trim ring in sig. below
You could do an accutronix triple tree kit and get it with the bottom mount then the skys the limit...
mid or wide trees with 3deg rake maybe. $$$ though.
im trying to do away with the visor. hoping i can just drill a hole and use bottom mount but im open to options and sugestions. yuurs looks good with the trim ring might be an option. it would sure save me some bucks. thanks for the feedback
I drilled my bottom tree & mounted a wide glide headlight when I still had the narrow glide front end. Easy to do. I've got a wide glide front end on my Lowrider now & put a 6 1/2" dia. Springer headlight on it. It has more of a teardrop shape to it & looks very nice. Had the body powdercoated gloss-black & left the trim ring chrome.
The sky is the limit when it comes to headlights. You can make just about anything work with a little ingenuity. I removed the "bucket" and mounted a piece of angle iron to span the gap. I covered it with diamond plate to hide the angle iron and wires. I drilled a hole and mounted the light on top. Not everyone may like it, but it is definitely unique.
thought of something ... Saw a 883L with a new headlight and Nacelle kit. I think it was even a H-D accessory. It looked cool.
Nacelle = like a fatboy or Road King.
azgunner, thanks, thats what i had in mind. i was hoping someone did that.found a light i like and pretty much wanted to see if someone drilled their trees. thanks all for your feedback
I'm in the EXACT same boat. My headlight is top mounted to that ugly *** "eyebrow." I want to install a longer bullet style headlight, but they all seem to be for bottom mounted rigs. Do you need to do anything to protect the metal after you drill a hole to prevent rusting or no big deal? I wonder if I could drill that hole without taking anything apart? Maybe...
I'd like to sh*tcan that eyebrow and mount my idiot lights somewhere else too, but haven't figured that one out yet either.
You trees are aluminum, they wont rust. Just un plug the idiot lights & toss 'em. I'm sure you know how to tell when your'e in neutral & you have a switch that turns high beams on/off, turn signals you can usually see if their still blinking, etc. I did drill a hole in my dash & popped the oil pressure light in there. As far as I'm concerned it's the only one that is important.
