I am looking at the same situation. Someone please explain. Does the dealer just remap the stock computer or does one have to purchase an aftermarker computer that is re-mapable? Can you just install the exhaust and intake and buy something like a Dynajet or Powercommander and install it and by-pass what the dealer does? I'm very mechanically inclined-I just don't know what is needed.
A vance and hines FuelPak is less than the map upgrade $219. Since you are using Vance and hines pipes..get the FuelPak. its easy to setup and they have the map settings on there site already. Check http://www.morepoweracing.com/Fuel-a...-1-21306-5360/thay also have the PCIII if want to go that route.
If I go with the following set up will the download from the dealer be all I need ( they tell me the download is $250 )
Vance and Hines Big Radius
SE Heavy Breather Kit ( part # 43768-06 )
Thanks for all your help
As Trotter said "NO". With those 2 you will need either aSERT or PC lll. Then you will need to map. If your not sure of what your doing (you can do this yourself) Then leave it to the stealer.
Thell do the install and dynotune it for ya.
If the stealer is charging that much for a download I wouldn't let them touch chit.
Many options for fuel tuners out there ranging from the Dynojet PCIII to the Thundermax and so on. Do some serches here on PCIII or Thundermax and you'll get a ton of results.
I am running the V&H Big Radius 2:1 and I purchased the fuel map and went to the web site and got the settings as silent warrior has said. If a coplete stage 1 is all you are going to do the fuelpak will work fine and give you about a 15 HP gain. The SERT and Power commander are more expensive but more versatile and can advance the timing as well to give even a few more HP but if you get the settings wrong you can really do damage to the engine. (detonation) The fuelpak worked for me and the unit has dip switches to set up all the fuel maps and good instructions for do it yourselfers. I bought mine off Ebay for abot $175.00. The power commander and SERT will more than likely have you going to the dealer to get it dynoed in.
