Default Service Manual

I understand that getting a service manual is a great investment. The question I have is the
Harley make any better than another companies? I know with cars other companies many
service manuals. And I'm not the richest guy in the world. If I get a lot more with
the moco's than I can justify shelling out that amount instead of buying something
that doesn't have HD on the front cover.

Thanks for all opinions.

Get the HD manual. It's well worth the $65 investment.

The information contained in the manual is well worth the $65... The actual book itself appears to have been put together with elmer's glue... The damn thing is falling all to pieces... Maybe I've been using it more often than it was designed for. I did hear one member say they'd taken it to a copy store and had it spiral bound. I'm seriously thinking about doing that.

If you are familiar with the Helm Manuals for cars, HD's are on par with that.

Chiltons, Haynes, and Clymer are not as detailed and a step below in scope.

Same old thing, you get what you are willing to pay for.

+1 on the Harley manual also. It's better than most car manuals. Not mention it will help you get familiar with your bike.

Check e-bay, I've seen them for $30 or $40.
