Default BEST,FINEST SHOCKS AVAILABLE

It seems that the progressive 412 shocks are the most popular but i'm looking for a replacement shock that will make a real improvement over stock.I want it all:better ride, handling and load capacity.Progressive 418 or 440?How about works performance with ARS?

I installed 11.5" progressive 440s on my Street Bob. The ride is firmer than stock but not bone jarring like the 11"ers I had before. I still use the original 12" Harley shocks for long trips tho. They may not handle as well as the firmer shocks but they are very comfortable.

Another option would be air shocks. The Dyna can use the same 12" air shocks as the Harley Touring bikes. And you can get them in black or chrome for around $110 iirc. Do a search in the Dyna section and you'll find photos of both black and chrome air shocks on Dynas. There are pricier high end kits out there too with on-board compressors and adjustable damping.

Hello,

I have mounted Ohlins HD216 with black spring, it handles much much better than stock and looks good too.

Penske make serious racing shocks as well as Ohlins but be prepared to pay 2-3 times as much as you would for Progressives. Also be prepared to jack up the back end if you really want it to handle It may not look like you want a Harley to look but all the suspension in the world won't help you when you run out of cornering clearance.

looking through options, I decided to go for the 2002HD FXDX OEM shocks. Raise the back end a bit, for more clearance, progressive and gas charged, adjustable for rebound and damping. Too expensive, but what the check. Haven't gotten it out on the road, due to weather, but expect great things. Sitting there in garage, feels a LOT softer, but with firmer at bottom. Also did Progressive springs and 50/50 heavier oil in forks, to balance things out. I can sooooo hardly wait...

I have Works Performance Black Trackers with adjustable Pre load on my 07 street bob. I love them. Huge improvement over stock.
