Default Highway peg question

I'm looking at putting highway pegs on a street bob. Here's my question. I have a short inseam - 28" so forward controls are out of the question. My next best bet is to add highway pegs so I can have an alternate leg position.

I'm wondering if anyone has used HDs adjustable highway peg mounting kit (49002-98 page 220 of the parts book) and whether it would bring the pegs closer to me than, say, the stock lowrider highway pegs which is what I'm leaning toward using. The pictures in the parts book show only how it would look further away but judging by how the angle changes (3 position) it doesn't look to me like it would be any closer. My dealer isn't sure and is a bit reluctant to order them if I can't give him a firm commitment.

Any thoughts or suggestions for this vertically challenged old f@rt?

I have an 05' LowRider and have the same situation as you (28" inseam). I put the HD adjustable pegs on mine and they work great. The picture is not in the "back" position. If they don't pull the pegs back far enough, you can also add the Kuryakyn Footpeg Offsets, #7996. Not sure how all that would look together--however the HD adjustable pegs work great for me. I sold the stock LowRider highway pegs on eBay for enough to make a major dent in the cost of the adjustable pegs (especially if you order them from Chicago HD).

The highway peg mounts have two mounting positions. I have a 30" inseam and use the far mounting position comfortably. I'm sure you will be fine.

I have the same highway pegs and I love them. my inseam is 30. I am going to get some forward controls soon so I definitely will sell this pair I have.

Docsg, if I understand you correctly, the adjustable pegs are closer to you than the stock lowrider pegs. If so, that's exactly what I need.

Thanks for the great input.

I have that H-D kit on my SB. It only has 2 adjustments not 3. I took it off after I wrecked and put on crash bars with hwy pegs and that was extremely comfortable...but I hated the way it looked on my Bob so I went back to the kit pegs.. Only thing is this time I did'nt line up the "indents" with the mounting piece. They are higher up and closer to me this way. I just added a drop of loctite(blue) to the mounting boltand tightened the hell out of it. I don't put all my wieght on 'em and they seem to be fine. I check 'em for tightness every now and then and they've been ok. Hope I did'nt confuse you as much as I think I confused myself just now.....

I have a pair on my 08 sg I'm 5'9. in the first position(mine also only have 2 positions)they line up almost perfectly with the down tubes where they mount(see pic), if sit on your bike and hang your feet parallel to the tubes it should give you a good idea if they'll work 4 u. personally I love'em dont like the actualpegs though want to get something else

Many thanks to all of you for making my decision easier. I'll be putting on the adjustable kit.

The dealer thought there were three positions but after looking closely at the picture I can see where there are only two. I think he assumed there was also a center position.

Thanks again for your words of wisdom.
