Thanks Jackyl!

I have a question for you. The prototype is 1/4" steel and there is a slight amount of flexure in the setup. I am thinking of using 3/8" for the final product but may consider aluminum as well, but am wondering which is more rigid given the same thickness?

As it is the boards are about an inch wider on each side from what they are on the softail. I think that other than possibly draggin the boards on tight turns this is a good thing as I see kits being sold to extend the boards outward for a more comfortable ride. I don't want to get them too much wider.

if you can get some (HSLA)steel then you will not have to up-size the thickness. but if you cant, then go with the 3/8 steel plates over the aluminum one.

When I built my custom frame I used 5/16" steel for the front mounts, plenty hefty and thick enough to hold threads as well.

cstolp,
nice job
you may have solved a problem that I have, dyna forwards are to far forward.
And the mids have started to cause a problem for my right knee after a 100 miles or so
and I have invested a small fortune in pegs etc to solve the problem. I may try some thing
similar to what you did. Great Idea on the pattern location.
Thanks
carl

Here are the final interface plates made of 3/8" steel, drilled, counter sunk, one stud installed and welded and all painted up ready for install.

Ok I have the plates mounted to the frame and the softail brackets bolted to the plates. Waiting on a few parts to complete the install. I will have one more part to make and that is a bracket to mount the softail brakeline at the brake switch tee.
