Hey everyone I am new to this board and have a few questions. I own a Low Rider 08 and was thinking about putting on the progressive 412 shocks the 11". How much lower will it bring my bike in the rear. I am looking at some of the bikes here and really like the set up they have, lower rear and 21" up front.
Thanks bro, love the setup you have on your bike. I'd like to put some apes on my lowrider, but I don't think it would look good with the skinny forks.
According to the Harley web site the Low Rider has a 29 degree rake. That's the same as the rest of the Dyna family accept the Wide Glide which has a 34 degree rake.
The Low Rider has 29 degrees of rake in the frame and another 1.5 degrees in the trees. The Wide Glide has 32 in the frame and 2 in the trees. The other Dynas have 29 in the frame,0 in the trees. The misprint on the website has been noted here in several posts. The extra rake on the Low Rider is reflected in the wheelbase being .4 of an inch longer than the SG or SB.
I put a set of FL Bagger shocks on my 05 Dyna Lowrider. These shocks are not intended to be on this bike but they are 11 1/2" eye to eye. When sitting on the bike the riders sag brought it down to 11" (not shown). I hope this helps. In the next photo, I did some R&D work on my Dyna and lowered the front end down 4" to see what it would look like. I think but do not know, it would be level with riders sag. This post is not intended to instruct you to use these measurements. I have the photos for your visual inspection only. I have to do it in 2 posts. I hope this helps you.
2 When looking on the photo, there is an optical illusion. I was squaring up the frame so it would be parallel to the camera lens. The pan clearance is more than adequate. This front end is set at 28" from top of trees to center of axle with a 16" FL wheel. As you can see, there is plenty of room to make the lowering anywhere you want. I would not go any lower than 11" on the rear shocks as the fender is 9" + 1/4" of tire growth before the tire hits the fender (on the photo in the proceeding post..
