Default Modified rear signals...

I picked up a set of small LED lights from Ebay a couple weeks ago (a pair of amber and pair of red) and I have decided to go ahead with the red ones and make my rear signals into the running/stop/turn signals and chop the rear fend of the stock taillight. I am not a big fan of all the chrome (who isn't it seems now days), so I took some emery cloth paper and gave the signal housing a "brushed" look. I also took off the chrome finish of the reflector piece inside the turn signal assembley as well;

Before and After;

Reflector before and after;

I have to get a couple more pictures of the finished assembly and once I get the red lenses put on which should hopefully be in the next week or so.

These are the LED lights that I picked up and put into the housings; LINK

Interesting!.............I like the inexpensive(didn't wanna say cheap) led lights you "linked" to so much I bought a set, pretty good deal for A project I have in mind. ..............Now as far as sanding down the chrome ..hmmmmmm........I think in my honest opinion it will catch MORE road crap, unless you seal it some how, show us some usesage pics on this after you get em mounted with some miles on em.........

I've been looking and researching for something to replace my rear signals too lately.

From what I've been reading, and I'm new to all of this LED stuff, my concern would lie with taking the inside reflecting finish. But like I said, I'm no expert, just curious, let us know how bright they are in daylight.

I do have to admit, I like the brushed look on the outside, maybe a coat of clearcoat to seal them? Again, no expert, just a thought.

I have been searching for a cheap LED light for a few months now and I just ran across them on Ebay one night and figured for the price I could afford to tinker a bit with them. I am planning to get the signals, stalks, and struts powder coated so the brushed look is just temporary for now. I just figured since I am modifiying things I would give it a decent look other than shiny chrome.

The LEDs that I used actually have their own sealed housing and already projects the light outward on its own. With a lens on the housing it also helps to give a "fuller" illumination when lit, but when off the signals have a dark, almost smoked look to them now.

Once the weather warms back up again (it was 60* last weekend) I will get the signals put on the bike and snag some daytime and night time photos

Thanks for the link, HogGlider. Looks like some nice products. Seeing as they're relatively close to my place, I'm going to go check them out, in person, if they have a store-front. Sometimes you don't know you need something, till you see it. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
