Default Battery question?

I know you can warp your battery plates if you jump your bike from an auto. After reading some post on some having to leave their rides outside with no way to use a battery tender, I was wondering if you could run a small pair of wires, #14 say, with a small 1 amp inline fuse from your car to your bike and keep the bike's battery chargedon really cold nights? I don't know if youcould to plug it into the car's lighter or installeasy access pigtails on both batteries. The battery tenders put out about 3/4 of an amp. I don't think it would drain a car's fully charged battery. I am looking for some input from some of you that are more knowledgeable than I.

Nope, would not work. With that setup you would basically be jumping the car battery to the motorcycle battery. The one amp fuse would pop in a nanosecond. Good thing too, because the #14wire would fry quickly from the battery current. I am not aware of another product that you could use to piggyback on the car battery, but who knows?

Default RE: Battery question?

Thanks for your reply Dorkman. I was wanting to keep the bike's battery fresh over night. I wasn't planning on jump starting it with #14 wire. What got me to wondering about it was the infomercial I saw about plugginga booster box into the car's cigarette lighter and charging the battery thru the lighter. If there was too much of a voltage differential between the two batteries the fuse would blow. If both were at the same voltage and not load, looks to me the battery would stay up, but then if it was good battery, you shouldn't a "tender". Just a thought.
