Default So, How loud is the Screamin' Eagle?

Not sure how to compare it to other Mufflers... How loud is it compared to the V&H Straight Shots? How much louder is it compared to the stock?

Lets say a Big Radius is a 10 on the loudness scale and the Stock is a 0 on the same scale... where would the screaming eagle and the V&H Straightshots be on the same scale.

This is the model I am thinking about buying:

Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Slash Down 80493-07

It says I also need the clamps for it... And I do not need a Fuel Management system...

I think it would be great if someone comes up with a Loudness scale for all brands...

Help please... highly appreciated...

I wouldn't even waste my money on the new SE slips. If you want to just do slips, then go for the V&H.

the old SE II are technically not street legal - and have a nice tone.
the new SE are 50 state legal - and sound like the stock mufflers.

since the part # you gave has a "-07" I would guess these are the new SE. If this is in fact the case - and your example has the big radius at a 10 on the loudness scale, the new SE would probably be a -5.

First off, I wouldn't put BR's at a 10 on the scale but I get your drift. If you are looking for sound, the SE's are not for you. I had Straightshots before my BR's and they actually sound about the same except when I really hit the gas. If you are looking for sound out of a muffler (slipon), you have a lot of options, but Straightshots are a good one, among others.

Rush 1.75 slipons are deep and througthy (sp) Have a set on my SE Springer.
I also have a set of SEII's (Pre EPA) On a 06 LowRider And they sound good but nothing compared to the Rush slipons. Might be swapping them out. We'll see. If it's classic sound you want AND Performance stay away from the Newer SE Slipons. IMHO, They just don't deliver. Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings who has them.

Both good choices as well. I've had the SE II's and I've heard the Rushes. I actually wanted Rush when I bought the SE II's because I'm an impatient **** that didn't want to wait to order them. Nice thing about either is you can change the baffles out for more/different sound without having to replace the entire mufflers. Rush has different size baffles you can buy or you can get Big City Thunder baffles for the SE II's (if you can still find any).

I wouldn't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. I find that those that have the new SE's, like them for what they are, which is fine if that's your thing. And those that don't like them get rid of them quick. I've had 2 friends buy them right after purchasing their bikes and they were both running Rushes within 6 weeks after.

Thanks for all the replies...

The reason I put the BR at 10 on the scale is because I heard them. They were a tad too loud for my taste...

The stock mufflers suck... 0 sound! Therefore, if the SE Slip Ons give me around 5 sound scale... I am good to go... What do u think? Are you guys saying it is like the original muffler? if so, then what is the benefit of anyone buying the SE slip ons??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RUSH-...spagenameZWDVW

Is this the rush slipon you are talking about? 14201?

The issue I have again is that the dealer here says that I will loose engine warranty... bs or no bs, I cant argue with them... I am in Dubai...

Anyway... Lets see what your opinion is on the SE sound level and I will see whether I will get the V&H or the Rush.

Coliseum,
Man I feel for you guys riding Harleys in other countrys. Has to be tough getting parts. Here is a link to Rush Mufflers. http://www.epiflex.com/index.html
I would suggest to call or email them for what you are looking for and they can give you a exact part number for what you want.
You canot purchase directly from them but they can give you info on who to purchase from.

I have never purchased from American classic Motors off of eBay, but others have had issues with them sending out incorrect parts not listed in auctions.
As far as warrenty is concerned, Put on the Rush slipons ( you will not be disapointed) and save stockers. If you have a issue put the stockers back on for dealer work.

I would say 5 to 6 on the SEII's These are PRE EPA, Not the new 07ones you get from Harley.
If i was to do it over again, I'd go with the Rush 1.75's
Same 5-6 scale as SEII'S But way deeper tone.
