I did 12.5" apes form the stock mini apes on my dyna, and had plenty of cable length. Do a search on this forum there was a guy who did a step by step on how to DIY that was a HUGE help!!! I can remeber the guys name sorry.
Let's see.............1200 Can should be about a billion dollars US right?
Seriously though, you can do this yourself. I did and and it really isn't a big deal. I internally wired my bars and so on by myself and it's a little time consuming, but nothing that can't be done over a couple of beers and a service manual. Thie time of year is the best time to tackle these projects since you sure as hell aren't going to be doing much riding.
its not too hard.. a little time consuming. youll definatly need some kind of alcohol but it can be done with a little help. i spent about 450 on everything maybe 500......good luck.
dude do it yourself... get a camera, we can walk you though it... i did mine a few weeks ago, well the internal wiring at least, ws not hard and learned alot... could make it so much easier for the next guy... doing my girls bars next weekend...
Did mine myself. 16" Nash Gimps (which are in reality closer to 14.5-15"). Not terribly difficult, just time consuming as others have mentioned. I'm probably the exception, in that it took me a few weeks - but that is because I only had an hour or two here and there a few nights a week available to work on it. Could have done it over a weekend pretty easily. My Sig pic is the almost finished result - didn't have the brake line or clutch cable installed at the time the photo was taken.
Do yourself - I knew nothing, but now know a lot. wiring was a little tricky at first, but mainly because was tired. all in all well worth it to do yourself. can't speak for cable length on your bike. i needed new throttle/clutch/brake, but wires were good to go putting 10 1/2 in on my fat bob. I'll be posting some pics/comments in next couple days to add to bestofindica's great thread. but, have to mention, has been very time consuming - friday before lunch until now, and still need to install brake lines tomorrow and bleed, then will be done. good luck.
