I havnt got my fatbob yet, not until May so thats why I dont know already.
I want to fit a barons white face tach to my fatbob ( when it finally gets here...), but the brief glimpse I saw of one in the flesh made me think the bars inbetween the risers have some sort of cover on it to hide the internal wires that will make it impossible to fit a clamp to.[:@]
It didnt look like a "clamp" style tacho mount like the 1 1\4" barons will fit it the centrte because of the cover plate, and I dont want to mount it off-centre to one side of the risers.
Has anyone else done this mod sucessfully, and if so how?
Is there a mounting bracket that screws to the riders that will fit my tach?
Cheers all and thanks.
I would like to put a tach on my fat bob as well. Like the brushed aluminum options from HD but nothing seems to fit the bars between the risers. Anything anyone has to suggest with regard to options would be good to hear. Probably just have to be patient and wait for the MOCO to catch up with options for the Fat Dyna?
they have the speedo/tach option @ $500 - ouch
I'm waiting for speedwayinstruments to come out with a shift light but they do have a tach that will plug into your Fat Bob although it is small and just 2 8segment LED's. One of their marketing guys works with me and showed me a mock up on a set of bars, seems to work fine.
man, i'm in the same boat, would love to get a tach on there somewhere. could do the speedo/tach but not only is it pricey, h-d fixed the standard motor's redline on the dial and mine is up over that so it would negate the benefitm while riding.
I believe the mini tach which fits the wide glide will mount up to the fat bob upper h-bar clamp, at least what my dealer told me. Not sure about the wiring, though, if it would be true plug and play. But, the speedo/tacho combo unit brushed aluminum is nice, although pricery, but I think you lose the digital clock with the combo.
I have a zodiac mini tach with black red and puple wires...I want to crimp them onto existing wires under the speedo console of my FXDC 2007 model..which colourwires should i crimp each oneto .......Help Bob
Bob, on your FXDC you can tap into the orange wireat pin 1 of the speedometer connector for +12v (ignition) and the black wireat pin 7 of the speedometer connector for ground. There is more than one black wire on the speedometer connector, make sure you use the oneat pin 7. For the tach signal, you're going to have to run a wire down tosocket 3 on the ECM connector, which is located under the electrical panel cover on the left side of the bike. You'll needa "terminal socket" (crimp on wire connector)for the ECM connector (Harley part number 72076-00) as this socket is unused. Use small guage wire, 20 or 22awg (0.5mm),as the hole on the ECM connector is rather small. There's a pretty good article on a Harley mini tach tach install on a Street Bob here... http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/i...i,2354,00.htmlSome of the details won't apply to your FXDC, but there are some good photos of how you get into the ECM connector and how to apply the terminal socket, and that part will be identical for yours.
