I'm looking at getting new grips for my 08 FXDC. I was in the dealership the other day, and saw a pair I liked. I was wondering if any of you have advice on grips. I know this seems like a "go with what feels comfortable" post, but any pros/cons would be appreciated. By the way, the pair I was looking at were just your basic HD rubber and chrome type...
I have a pair of the all rubber with the bar&shield logo on the rubber part. They have chrome ends and chrome on the other end(by where it goes into the switch housing. Don't know if it's the same as you were looking at, but I like mine. Very comfortable.
I've got the HD Aeleron grips on mine. Probably not my first choice but I was stuck. When I had my bars changed, the aftermarket grips I had would not fit without grinding the bars and I didn't want them to do that. They didn't have a big selection on hand so I had to choose from what they did have. They are mostly black with a raised chrome strip and chrome thumb piece. I like them okay and they are plenty comfortable. But, you really do need to go with what feels best for you. The billet grips look cool but not to everyone's liking on long and/or wet hauls.
I can't find a single pic that really shows them. I must not be too proud of them.
IMHO the most comfortable grips are the Performance Machine grips with the Renthal inserts. They are slim, grippy and look really nice. I don't really like any of the HD grips.
