I ran into two problems when I tried to install a 3 inch lift on my 05 lowrider. First, when I lifted the tank, the fuel fittings seemed to be too close to the frame and would have to be bent in order to re-install the crossover line. I was afraid I would snap them off if I tried to bend them. Second, the wiring harness that goes up into the console didn't have enough slack. In order to add slack, it is necessary tocut acable tie inside theneck and remove the rubber plug and then feed someharness up through the backbone from the service loop under the seat.I would have to remove the big rubber flap on the rear fender and pull the harnessdown fromunder the seat and then feed it through the backbone. I know how to do it, but I got a bit lazy, and decided to put it off. Maybe I'll try again if I get the courage to try to bend the fuel fittings or go with a 2" lift.
Just got around to installing the 3" tank lift from Jackyl. WOW what a difference, I have an 03 wideglide and only the 3" would fit, but Thats what I wanted anyway, Shows alot more of the rocker covers ( which I have to clean & polish now). Really looks good with the tank up a little higher. I think I can do a topend build with just removing the rear bolt now! Wonder what a small tank lift would look like on my 04 ultra? Hmmmmm. Well maybe not. Thanks Jackyl for a quality piece. The price would be cheap at twice the price, (glad I got mine already). As soon as I learn how to post pic's. I'll get some on.
the 2in will fit an 03 wide glide thats what i put on mine last year.
I only had one problem w/ the tank lift... I spent thousands on upgrades for my bike and my wife never noticed a thing different(had the parts shipped to work) I put on a 2" tanklift and my wife notices the difference in appearance immediately and accuses me of spending thousands on a new front fork or "something" . The improved look is great except for the wife thing. lol.
