I just purchased a 2006 Low Rider and I would like to change the pipes. I want to put a set of V&H Big Shots Staggered on it. Other than that I am going to leave the bike stock. Will I need to do anything like flash the ECU or add a PowerCommander or will it run ok without doing anything? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Personally, I'd just get used to the fact that a TFI/DFO, PC III or SERT is basically a 'must have' requirement even on a dead stock bike since the map is lean out of the box. The factory map and the stage I download/kit will get you going but both still marginal and very lean. Even though you mentioned just a pipe change and nothing about modding the intake, I'd still be weary of doing this without some sort of enricher for the fuel injection. Your going to do the intake sooner or later anyway right?!?Just my 2 cents.
I agree withfl_799, you need to upgrade the intake. I installed pipes on my 05 Wide Glide. I used a Screamin' Eagle intake, V&H Straight Shots HS, and had the reflash done. When money allows, I am going to buy a tuner. The bike runs much better with the reflash. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
I agree also.THe fuel Pak and having it dyno tuned made a world of difference on my ride. Louie you think they will ever make end caps to fit our pipes. The ones now don't fit our pipes so they say. Don't have a clue whats differnet about them other then the heat shields.
