Default PCIII unit outside the electical box

Put the PCIII under the seat of my 07 street bob a few days ago. As the instructions said I zip tied the stock connector and new connector to the front of the electical box and then put the unit itself smashed in under the seat. My concern is that the zip tied connectors are only about 1-1.5inches away from the fins on the back of the motor, wont that get rather hot?I'm thinking about putting connections under the seat and running the PCIII unit itself on the back of the electical box, on the outside. ThePCIII unitis weather resistant right? I guess what I'm asking is should I reorganize things for fear of "cooking" connections and if I do can thePCIII unit runoutside in the elements?

According to Jaime at Fuelmoto he says they are weatherproof. However reading from the forum some others have said otherwise. I was able to squeeze mine up behind the electrical box. There are some great threads on this site about this. do a search. Goodluck.

The PC III is indeed very weather resistant, but maybe not totally weather proof. There have been a few problems reported with water collecting in the connectors and causeing problems. But it seems like it was due to very heavy rain or washing the bike and hosing the thing down. Try the tech. section or a search on Google.

Good luck with it.

Here is how I installed my pc3. I attached it to the bottom of my ecm, mine is a 07 Dyna FXD. There was no room for me to put under seat. Look at fig. F .

I moved it to the outside of the cover. Used the velcro tapeto stick it to the rearof the cover.Hardly noticable on the black bob if your not looking for it.Out of the way, easy to hook up if I want and even if velcro comes loose can not get into anything. I like the connections under the seat out of the elemnts and away from motor heat. Zip tieing to the ecm put it to close to the motor for my comfort. Plus did not like having to "jam" everthing in under the seat. Went for a ride no problems on bumps or anything. I'm happy with it and will keep everyone posted, I sure think that it is better than how it was!
