Welcome aboard Ben and congrats on your '08 Bob.

Best ideas sometime come from seeing what others have done and planning stuff out so you don't end up changing your mind (well, you will anyways! LOL!), but at least not having to redo something twice or more. I'd suggest you get familiar with your new ride for a while and then decide what directions demand the most attention: style or function.

Style is real personal but lots of ideas here:

https://www.hdforums.com/m_193640/tm.htm

As for function, do you want it handle better? Then look into suspension mods. Do you want it to run smoother, cooler, better? Look into Stage 1 upgrades and fuel management systems. Do you need to be more comfortable? Consider a new seat, forward controls, different handle bars, etc. Want it louder? Then slip-ons or full exhaust mods are in order.

There is a lot of cross over between style and function, and one often dictates the other. My advice, start with function and see where that takes ya!

All this is pretty fun stuff to plan and research and make lists of. Then you have to decide priorities assuming you don't have limitless resources! Good Luck and enjoy! And don't forget to ask questions, we're here for ya! Lots of us have street bobs and most have gone through what you're starting.

Welcome from Seattle, WA!

It can be hard to choose what to do first....budget has a lot to do with it. I went with a stage 1 upgrade first. My motherwell rack, highway pegs and turn signal relocation were dirt cheap in comparison.

Congrats on the Bob. I bought an '07 a year ago and have 10,000 trouble-free miles on her. It's a great bike and I hope you enjoy yours!

Oh no! Not the f'ugly wings!!!

Not dis'ing your ride. At least I mean nothing personal. It's more of an inside joke that you may not know about if you haven't been around for a while.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]from S. GA...the far corner of the country. I'd spend a lot of time looking at bikes on here before I did much of anything. Lots of Street Bobs around these parts with a wide variety of looks. Good luck narrowing it down.
