Shift linkage mods?
Sitting here with a cold one looking at the FatBob & the Ultra. Something jumped out at me & said that the stock linkage on the Fatbob (forward controls) looks entirely too plain. Well after finding my glasses I got out the Harley Sears catalog & checked out some. Kinda nice but at $60 & up I'm thinking about just making a cover for mine. Anybody got any good ideas? I'm leaning towards a small black rubber tube extending to each end withdressy end trims.
I realize HD is insanely expensive, but 180 bucks for a shift linkage with a skull on it? I can easily understand spending money on some things for the bling factor, but am i missing something here? Will it polish my boot while I'm riding? I dunno. I think my jaw kinda dropped a little when I saw this.
Contact Vance at Roadnames.us (a Forum sponsor) and take a good look at some of his work. Not the cheapest, but well worth the cost. He worked with me on several designs at no charge for over a month until we got it right. Go to roadnames.us, look at the Customer Photos and Comments, and look at the shifter linkage in the upper left hand corner. That's the one he made for me.
Great quality.

I think you'll find that since the mid-control shift linkage is so short, you may get something chromed, but I haven't seen too many for the short stock linkage.
Here's a polished one from HD.
It's even less than $100! WOW.
