I just noticed on a long freeway trip home that my brake light does not work. I'm assuming that it just happened but I can't be sure. I'm awful with electrical stuff. Does anyone have any tips on whats wrong?
Does the brake light not come on at all? Does it come on and stay on? Have you had reason to mess with your right-side hand control recently? Does neither the front brake lever, nor the rear brake lever make it work?
Check some things:
[ul][*]Remove the taillight and check the bulb[*]In the housing which holds the bulb, check the harness plugs and make sure they are secure[*]Check plug connectors under the seat[/ul]
If all these look good, provide us some of the above requested information for diagnostics. Maybe someone here can help get you straight.
Do your tail lights work? If the signals work, then there is power to the block in the tail lamp where the signals and brake light plug in. Start there, if there is power to the block, the problem is at the plug for the brake light or a bad bulb. Bulb is the place the start.
Actually, it's possible that the wire for the brake light is damaged somewhere without the turn signal wires being damaged.
BUT, your suggestion is the first place to start.

The brake light is always on and neither hand or foot control work. I have recently adjusted my right hand control. The brake light was flickering for a few minutes earlier today.
Check your housing to make sure it is put together properly, you may have lost the little clip that's in there. When you squeeze the brake lever you should hear a click. Check this post ou, it may help.
