I got the essentials kit along with my Fat Bob. I wish I didn't. A permanent backrest/luggage rack would be just fine. The windshield, while blocking some wind, drives me nuts. Some buffeting from below and the top is right in my line of sight. I get a lot of wind coming from below the tank trying to lift my head, and straight up my nose, when around 70 and above. I got it when I bought the bike because I got a discount and the warranty covers the accessories. I had a Windvest on my old bike(VRod) and it suited me ok. I thought I would get a nice calm ride with the big shield but I was wrong.[:'(]
Also, trying to get it on and off around the double headlight is near impossible without sliding it againt the chrome light housing. No scratches yet though. The dealer had a hard time removing and installing it too!
I got one, I ride most of the time without it, but if I were going to do a long trip I would definitely recommend it. I probably should have used it riding down to Daytona today (a little over an hour from my house) just because the wind was really up and was beating the heck out of me! I really prefer riding without it because I feel it looks better. I probably should ride a little more with it on in order to get a better feel for the difference with and without but so far I haven't been able to tell too much difference. Would definitely help if you have a lot of bugs though! LOL
Thanks for the pics all, I ended picking one up, wow what a difference!
Question, should I be looking through or over the sheild? I can raise it about 1.2"-2" more. What is everyone else doing? If you raise it all the way, do you get too wind from above the lights?
Either way is okay. You just don't want your primary vision to be looking right through the top edge. Based on my hight I am going to trim my down because no matter how I place it on the forks, I can't get that edge out of my view.
I see they come in different heights, I am 5'9", what would be the best height for me? I have a 2011 dyna Fat Bob. I live in Germany, so I have kind of a language barrier, but I am in Afghanistan now, so I can't even really talk to a dealer about it. Any help would be appreciated!

Go to Clearivew, this is their biggest one, (+5") at 23" with a recurve top, its a single headlight (wg fitment) but they do one for the dual as well. Quality stuff too.
