No I didn't, and that's a great idea. I will have to do that this weekend, thanks for sharing. By the way, what the hell is the accellerator pump.....lol
Think back to pumper carbs wherein an extra blast of fuel is shot when the throttle is cracked. My dirt bikes have them. You can download an application for the PCIII that simulates a pumper carb function. There are settings for the amount of fuel, the amount of throttle to trigger the "squirt", and the duration of the squirt for that amount of fuel. There are suggested settings on the powercommander web site. The difference is noticeable, but so is the consumption. It's fun to play with and easy to turn on and off when you leave the USB cable connected.

So it's like having a maniacally laughing "mini-me" on the bike with you who cranks the throttle an extra 1/4 turn every time? Sign me up, LOL!
I must have a fluke, mine starts right up as though the PC was not there. It's on an 07 road king. since it's working properly..should I worry??
EDIT: however on my 06 dyna, it did crank a couple of extra times. AND it took me about two hours to install, it was much easier on my RK (nonelectronic throttle))
Anyone else having problems with long starts after installing the PC3?
chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chuuuug, start! Aside from the difficult starts, i agree 100%.
Have you been Dyno'd?
Yeah, i did, but it ended up running worse than before the dyno, so i just replaced the dyno'd map with the previous one. I've also put new pipes on since and added a brand new map. Runs like a scalded dog, but that start just is a killer.
What change happens when an aftermarket brain is installed?
I have a 2007FXD. I opened up the flat plate in the end of each muffler. I did that for noise, not performance. Other than that, it is stock. It seems to perform well to me. By that I mean it does what I want/need it to do. (not looking to race or wheelie)
I have older cars that I have built up engines in and tuned the carbs, so I am familiar with the difference a small change can make, (LIke porting, newer manifold, 4bbl, MSD ignition) and still have a streetable ride.
Are y'all changing the maps to fix some problem, or pushing for more performance? I ask because a $900 upgrade is not a bunch in the world of engine upgrades, (thundermax) but what kind of change are you getting?

I had the same excessive cranking and listened to others on the forum.
The Power Commander is powered off the fuel pump, so if you wait for the engine light to go off, the PC doesn't get power until you hit the start button - which causes the delay.
I start mine now right after I hit the run switch, no excessive cranking and no fault codes.
