I just bought a 2007 street bob, If I change the exhaust do I need to have the bike calibrated? Should I install an intake at the same time?
If you install slipons, no. If you install a stage 1, high flow air cleaner, yes, regardless of the exhaust. If you install straight pipes or real open slipons like V&H Straightshots, then yes. If you do get an exhaust that needs it, go ahead and upgrade the air cleaner. And, I'd suggest a fuel manager or tuner device to calibrate the ECM vs. getting a HD ECM download.
On my wife 07 Low Rider we put on V&H Bigshots Staggered with quiet baffles, high flow air cleaner and the stage one download. Runs great and she gets around 42 miles per gallon. There are alot of exhausts to choose from and everyone has their opinions on them, so do a little research before you buy.
Im not sure about all this, stage 1 kits and remaps. I talked to my father tonight and he has a 92 hegatige softtail classiche installed V&H thunder heads 2 into 1 and never installed anything like a fuel pack, stage 1 or had a remap. Hes has over 25000 miles on them and never had any problems. So why does everyone say you need to get this this and that then?
Carbed bikes get rejetted, fuel injected bikes get remapped. The 02 sensors on some of the newer EFI bikes will compensate for some of the slip-ons. They will not compensate for other mufflers and will not compensate for the A/C change.

Ok that makes sense. thanks for clearing that up for me.
Hey jaystone,
what kind AC and stage 1 did you get? Also how much did it run ya. I have been wanting my exhaust for months now and I just got the go ahead to get them and I have some extra money towards the AC but dont know if it can cover the download or SERT, PCIII.
my 06' SG has vance and hine big shots and a hypercharger and is remapped with a SERT on the dyno and thespark plugs a areperfect light brown. My wifes bike 07' SG stock exaust and air cleaner with stock map, plugs are adark white which is on the lean side already. Even though her bike has the 96' motor, it feels way restricted especially on the top end.My 88' is way better tuned and pulls hard all the way up instead of dropping off a little after the torque peak. I think even if you retuned a stock pipe and ac bike the performance and power would be much better.
