Default Pitted wheels--normal?

It didn't take long for my new Fat Bob to get some noticeable blemishes on the rear wheel. There's definitely some pitting. It's not terrible, but I wanted to know if this kind of wear is normal. I tried cleaning them with some HD wheel cleaner, but it pretty much did nothing.

My 06 pitted within the first year even though I cleaned it a lot. I eventually gave up. It's a good excuse to buy new wheels later on anyway.

Not knowing your riding habits, i.e.riding in the winter with salt on the roads, if you do that salt has to be washed off. If you ride along the coast of N.J. thereis salt in the air. Salt will attack aluminum. I've seen aircraft on aircraft carriers at sea pit and they were washed every seven day but also hand cleaned. If your polished aluminum is pitting, polish, polish and apply agood wax. I use Star Brite marine polish, it's designed for aluminum boats and it works.

For all you Dyna owners who went to Daytona Bike week and drove up and down A1A or on the beaches, you may want to wash those bikes down real good or the corrosion will set in.

Mine are doing the same thing. I'll give the Star Brite a try. I've tried Mothers Aluminum Polish and it does okay, but not as good as I'd like.
