Curious what products everyone uses for cleaning their bikes, especially the first spring cleaning after you get it home from storage. Specifically looking for a good wheel cleaner for the laced wheels and I have alittle surface rust starting on a few spokes. Also a good polish for the valve covers.
The only stuff I use on my bike is honda spray polish I love the stuff! I think the honda spray is like that s100 stuff from what I hear I have to give that s100 a try.
have had a product called "wheelwax" for several years...
use it on my cars, but never was really that impressed-
its a combo cleaner/ synthetic and carnuaba protectants-
until i used it on the sporty's laced wheel- this stuff does an incredible job on our wheels- check it out!
A lent-free cloth is a good idea - I hate borrowing cloths.
Those blue shop towels, like paper towels but heavier, and some sort of polish stuff and some stuff that the vinyl (seat and saddlebags) and tires like.
WD-40 for the mess from the chain.
Break-free on areas that may rust - if you've got rusty spokes, put break-free on 'em and don't wipe it all off, let it settle in there where the rust is starting.
I rode my sporty all winter and when it finally got warm enough I used Simple Green. Sprayed all over everything below the seat. Let it sit a few minutes then rinsed it off while scrubbing all of the non painted parts with a soft bristle wheel brush. Used my leaf blower to dry it. I have cast wheels so I am no help on your laced wheels. As for the painted stuff I think there is nothing better than the Honda Polish. I have also used Meguires detailer and I like it a lot. For the chrome parts I use Mothers chrome polish and Mothers paste for the aluminum wheels etc. But really if you aren't trying to get road oil and grime off like I was, the Honda Polish in the aerosol spray can is about the easiest and the shine is great on all parts of the bike, painted and chrome. I don't think I'd spray it on the seat.. that could be a painful mistake.
