Dyno Tune = Popping?
No, I don't mean backfire, I mean popping. As I suspected, it is becoming evident that popping is inevitable...
Had mine dyno'd last Fall and only rode it another few hundred miles before putting her away for the winter, but not only did I notice no backfiring but also no popping and a real nice "awake" sound out of the V&H short shots with quiet baffles. Also have SE Stage 1 intake with K&N filter and SERT. No engine mods and had just had my 1000 service with Syn3.
Tuner had my bike for a day and a half and worked on it for quite a while, letting it cool down between runs over the course of an afternoon and the next morning. I got (well, he got):
Max hp of 76 @ 4900 rpm
Max torque of 96 @ 2900 rpm
All A/F numbers below 14 with an ave. of 13.6
But not only did the guy work his magic (a well known engine tech at a local HD dealer), but they were running a Fall Dyno Special and I got it done for $135 flat fee!
When I took it in, I told him I was concerned about the popping and just wanted her to run well and could care less about the numbers. He smiled.
An hour and a half for a dyno tune does not seem like much time IMO. Each engine is different and just setting a bike to a prescribed bunch of settings from someone else's dyno tune may not be the best way to go about it. But I'm no expert.
Good Luck!

I bypassed all that Sert and d/l crap and went straight to a Thundermax ecm and had it custom mapped by my indy guy. He tests all his maps out thouroughly on his Dyno beforehand until he gets just the right combination of air/fuel numbers. Bike has run like a champ since the day I picked it up. Maybe you might want to consider that avenue also.

You just need to take it back and let him tweak it a little more .... He can fix that in a short time... He just needs to adjust a few tables.. It wont pop on Decel ...
Offhand, do you know where it's best to cut the fuel on decel then? I've a tmax with autotune on mine and have made adjustments myself for decel

my scoot runs like a bat out of hell, I have no complaints
Just figured I would ask, not too concerned with bulletins, they are not uncommon with complicated devices such as an ecm, I know the product works as advertised.
my motor certainly doesn't sound like popcorn popping, or a balloon popping or anything me or my mechanic felt was a concern on decel, just a very strong gurgle that I thought had a small poppy
either way, I think I will turn off the cut fuel on decel and see what happens, if I think it's popping with no fuel on decel, then it should really POP with fuel eh.
