Low Fuel Warning Light Doesn't Work
Learned the hard way today...Was an absolutely beautiful day here in NorCal. Me and my 2 sons went out riding on the country roads. My little one on the back of the HD, and my 16-year-old on the Ducati (on top of the world). All was great.
I have the LED fuel level indicator, and it seemed to be off. I would get a red light and only fit 2.5-3 gallons in it. Was always filling up at about 120-140 miles. We stayed fairly close to home today, so I thought I would push it and find out. Kept waiting for the low fuel light to come on, but it never did.
First died when I came to a stop about 6 miles from home. The pick-ups are obviously in the back of the tank, so I was able to get fuel back there and make it to within 2 miles of home. Hopped on the Duke and went home to get the gas can.
All up it wasn't bad at all. Now I know that 175 miles is my absolute limit.

Uh...congrats?
cool post though about getting out for a ride with your boys, Congrats on that for sure. Sounds like a great day.
The other thing that pops into my head is that you may not want to run the fuel out because it could burn up the fuel pump.

I have the MoCo's LED, too(Six Shooter). I've had the red light go on/stay on when really low.
But I've not seen the low fuel light come on yet, and I've gone really far on a tank.
I assume you're talking about the low fuel light on the speedo, not the gauge itself?
