When I first got mine, I took it to Florida and put about 3000 miles in a week on it. My back and neck were killing me. I'm a tall guy. I put the 18" bars on and it was like heaven! Plus they look BadAss. [8D]
I like the look and it's much more comfortable than leaning forward towards my stock bars with 4.5in risers. They handle great but you do need to get used to the slow turns, but if you use the friction zone it's pretty easy with a little practice.
I installed 10" Wild One Chubbys this winter. I took the bike for a couple of short rides this past weekend and it was incredibly comfortable. The 1-1/4" bars and the 5-3/4" headlight I installed really beef up the front of the bike. The look is awesome. I have not had a chance to take any pics yet.
The reason I put 10" "mini" apes was with the stockonesI was leaning too far forward and it was killing my shoulder.
I would put a picture up but haven't figured out how to shrink the pics I have down. I first leaned the apes forward and was comfortable, however slow turns were a pain for my short arms. I have the handlebars in line with the rake of the front end and have not problem in low or high speed turning.
I just did exactly that because I felt like I was stretching too far to reach the stock bars. Can't tell you how much better I like the mini ape's. (Street Bob bars). The hand placement is perfect for me, and I have a slight bend in my elbows now which I feel gives me better control of my bike. Of course now that the hands and shoulders feel good I'm starting to notice a discomfort in the butt area. New seat next???
Look fine but when you put on some serious miles and the wind treats you like a big sail on on boat then it wears you out. Have ridden for 30 years and over time you go from apes to mini apes and windshield. Comfort is number one so if you are happy go for it.[sm=trust_me.gif]
I did it to straighten up my back. Also is reminisant of my beloved 1973 Schwinn Stingray. Had asky blue one, apes and all, exactly like the one here, except mine was sky blue:

My thoughts exactly ... I tried a 4" pull back riser with the stock Super Glide bars and still no joy. I went with mini-apes--Wide Glide or Bob, not sure which. I think they're 10 1/2 inch.
This is acomfortortable heightfor me ... actuallyI like the look, but might consider going to 13 or 14 inch. Hey, Jay from PA,are you ready to part withyour 13" yet?
