I am changing my headlight with a newer one. The harness with the plug attacment goes into the neck of the bike. Any suggestions on how to get it out. Im wondering if there is slack in it and I can just pull on it. I have a 2006 Superglide and the hole is on the right side of the bike.
Is it difficult to change ?
Thanks
Too difficult for a Yankees fan!!! Take it to the dealer!! J/K!!
You could always splice into the harness. If not, pull out the rubber grommet on the neck and see if it gives you access. Most of the wires are easiest to get to from a panel located under the backbone, but it can be time consuming. There are posts on here giving all the details, just use the search feature.
As mentioned, pulled the rubber grommet from the neck. Unbolt the front of the tank. Lift the tank and slide a 2 x 4 under it. Don't let the tank slip and hit and scratch the rockers boxes. Remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the backbone. Jiggle the headlight harness from the side of the neck while you are feeling the wire from the underside of the backbone with a couple fingers. You should be able to find the connector like this. Then just feed it through so you can access it from the side. There is a lip in the backbone which sometimes will keep the connectors from pulling through. Just move it around till it is out of the way of the lip and you should be in business.
