Default three months on

hi guys, had my streetbob for 3 months now used daily rain or shine( more rain than shine)denim black.handles well wasn,t to sure about the ape hangers when i first got the bike but they fit like a glove its really comfy
i like the 70,s style which i want to keep. while i was waiting for delivery 2 months i only had a photo to look at and started to think about changing it ie;drag bars, hypercharger,v&h shortshots, brawler seat and of course
chrome bits&pieces.i,m over 6 foot and didn,t want forward controls so i,m having a thicker single seat made similar to the new mustang model so far i,ve fitted chrome wheel spacers front and back, chrome belt guard
and rear drive cover, black derby cover and cylinderhead inserts, rectifier cover (wish i hadn,t done that one) and chrome riser cups.whats next? kuryakin v shaped air cleaner ,stage 1,v&h are making after market slip ons
similar to the originals due out next month and something needs doing with the rear shocks the dampings crap i,ll try the spring settings first see if that helps.because i use the bike all year round i want to replace all the
bolts for stainless steel,. the clips holding the heat shields on have already rusted up.
what don,t i like about the bike? the front fender,s a joke it doesn,t even cover the side wall of the tyre i,m pretty sure its illegal in europe when it rains and it does here in england the whole front end, engine ,tank, yokes
get covered in crap,so i,ve junked that for a full fender which i,ve had to re shape to fit.theres holes in the rear fender to allow the wiring loom through (harley havent heard of rubber grommits) which allow alot of water through and
most of the wiring is under the seat guess where the water goes.so i,ve taped that off from between the battery cover, take you seat off and have a look.alot of salt on the roads over here so you get white deposits appearing
in strange places.i noticed some dried up underneath the rear stop lamp on closer inspection found out theres a square section of the rear fender cut out for the light fitting no seal around it, theres a rear fender waiting to rot
away.double clicking the alarm to disable it is fun most of the time.finding nuetral gear was becoming hard but i got the bike back today from the recall and its as sweet as a nut now.to sum up nothings perfect but this bike does come close
to it.this is my first harley and i was pleasantly surprised by its performance and handling and i,m sure it will keep me smiling for many years.

Welcome to the HDForum from New Zealand, enjoy!! [sm=welcomesign.gif]

Informative post spongebob, we are still in our summer, so have not experienced some of the problems you have. No salt on our roads unless you drive too close to the coast - lol.

Yip, definetly a good post.
I will need to keep an eye out for those things, i like the idea of the new front fender.
i just phoned west coast harley today, and they tell me my streetbob has a build date in mid march, and i should get it at the end of march, im hearing a lot of horror stories about people not been able to get one, i have been told if you order one now you wont get it until 2007 and the price is going up, to around ÂŁ9500. so fingers crossed i get mine. i have a pair of se 11 slipons to go on, and im not doing the download or the air cleaner, and hope it dont run lean, i will do a post when i get it done.
