For the most part the FXRT is just an FXR with a fairing and hard bags.
What year is it? the '82 - '83 models with the Shovelhead engine and the '84 and early '85s with the Evo engine had an enclosed final drivechain running in an oil bath like the FLT models had but aside from that as far as I know it's all the same as any other FXR.
Beside the hard bags and the enclosed chain the biggest difference was the addition of another brake caliper and rotor on the FXRT. They also have longer front forks by 2 inches. I added the 2" over front tubes and the extra slider for the caliper and put PM brakes on it to make my 84 FXRSP into a really great handling scoot. I left the master cylinder the same diameter for the dual disc as it was for the single. That way I got more leverage to the wheel calipers and it gives me a two finger stop from 100 mph fully controlable. I did replace the brake lines with braided stainless though. Makes no sense not to with this setup. The original lines litterly bulged when the brakes were applied. It's what the factory should have done years ago.
By the way. These parts are still available from Harley as of 2003. I had to replace them when I had my accident. To change will cost about $1,000.00 This would be about 350 for the tubes and sliders, 700 for the PM brakes, 150 for the brake lines, and 50 for the seals, etc. The performance increase is phenominal. Coupled with the narrow glide front end, it makes for a very quick, very agile corner carving machine. Jap bikes have got nothing over this setup on an FXR.
