My buddy has an 04' dyna. Gonna change the oil and primary in it for him. My question is, what is the capacity of the primary on an 04'. Pretty sure its a quart, but I don't want to go and spend 50 bucks on a service manuel for him. Just wanting to make sure!
On my '04 FXD the manual says to put the fluid in the primary with the bike in a stand-up position till you get the fluid to be near the edge of the hole. The tranny is to put the right amount by using the dipstick. Just add to the full mark.
My 02 and 05 Dynas take 20-24 ozs. in the transmission, I put in 22ozs. and call it good. The primary is filled with 26 ozs. in both bikes. There is a caution in both owners manuals about over filling the primary, like rough clutch engagement, incomplete dis-engagement, clutch drag, and/or difficulty in finding neutral at engine idle. Pour in what your mind tells you to do.. Good Luck.
