Default Any idea's

Well I decided to powder coat my rocker boxes, bought the service manual... I got the top ones off and was ready to start the lowers when I ran into a bit of a problem. Since the bike has been lowered jack won't go underneath anymore.. I know they say to turn the wheel while in 5th gear to get it in the right position. Any idea's on how to accomplish if you can't raise your bike ?

There was a under fifty bucks thread about a wooden bike jack/lift. It might lift your bike up enough to get a regular bike jack under it.
Good Luck...

Ride the front wheel up a little ramp like for use with a cage and thenslide yourjack under it. Hope you're tall enough to dismount with the front wheel 6 inches off the floor ... also might need a friend to help hold your bike up while you set up your jack. Or, you could make a short ramp from a couple of boards you have lying around the garage.

I use two boards and roll the wheels onto them gives me enough height to get the lift under.

Just did mine this past weekend, solo. Even with the plugs out, the rear wheel is a little harder to spin thanyou might think; make sure your scoot is stable when its lifted.

You may or may not already know what you're doing, but I'll offer this up anyway...

The tops may be a little stubborn coming off... I used a utility knife razor blade attached to the end of my gasket scraper to lightly tap and wedge between the covers. A couple light taps and they separated enough to do the rest by hand.

A couple things I'd suggest that made the lower covers easier for me...In order to verify that you're TDC on the compression stroke of the cylinder your working on,with the primary intact... After you've rotated the wheel and watched the rockers load/unload, you can use a long[phillips]screwdriver to lightly/slowly probe the spark plug hole. Holding the screwdriver in your left hand, you can nudge therear wheel forward in small incrementswith your right and feel the piston rise. When you think you're TDC,you should be able to spin/roll both pushrods between your index finger and thumb. If you can't, your not TDC on the compression stroke and there is still pressure on the rods; you want to relieve pressure from the rods so you don't bend them while removing/installing the rocker support.

Take your time, its worth it. Good luck.

mine is dropped 3 in man and i get mine under there have someone hold the bike upright for you it should slide (granted i use the "red" jack) on a side note... if you have any ? on the rocker boxes let me know... i did mine as well a year or so ago... you are going to need a "dog bone adapter" to torque everything down right... here are a few pics of when i did mine
