Default another removing rear wheel thread...

2007 Street Bob

gonna go home after work today and remove my rear wheel...i have a service manual and have already read about the procedure.... i'm doing the job in order to install the 180 SE, new floating rotor, andchrome pulley cover.

can i just drop off the wheel with the tireat my local dealer without installing the new rotor and pulley cover? ..or should i install the new rotor and pulley cover before i bring the wheel and tire to the dealer

i ask because i'm wondering if they'll need all the new stuff on there to balance things properly...or should the original pulley and rotor be enough?

thanks, paul

i am sure you would be fine leaveing the OE parts on ,

but if i were doing it the safest bet would be to install new parts and then take it in .

just to be sure you have a true balance .

just my 2 cents

You aint kiddin JRK

harley puts some sort of glue like crap so the axle dont move during install

and it is a huge pain in the a$$ to get it out the first time .

guys, no exageration.... that rear axle came out like you know what

i'm not kidding.... i gave her a light tap with a hammer on the left side....enough to grab the right side hex....i went on the other side just to give it a tug to see what i was up against

well, i twisted it, then started to pull on it....and this thing slid out like the front axle!....harley did something right on my bike.... it literally took me less than 20 minutes to remove the rear wheel- give and take a few for scolding my daughter for coming in and kicking over the pail i'd set up to bleed the rear caliper, and cleaning it up

Alright, I'm having the 180 installed on the rim and balanced today

question: I've read a bunch of posts on installing the rear wheel and that no realignment is necessary because no adjustment was made upon removal....but when i pulled out the axle those adjusters at the end of the forks were all flopping around...the nuts on the end were tight, but they were all loose like, you know

am i going to have to readjust things?...i know it's not difficult, but just curious
