For the past 8 years we have been doing our little boys trip to Laconia. This year we decided to change things up and head the other direction. I just booked us some rooms in the Shenandoah National Park (in VA).
If anyone here is familiar, I would love to hear some suggestions.
I used to live in VA Beach from '93-97 while I was in the Navy. We did a trip through the Shanandoah Mountain region once & it was really beautiful...you'll enjoy it for sure! Alot of beautiful riding roads & scenery. Much more scenic than NH in my opinion. NH's beautiful...but it's not West Virgina!

I was in VA-75, an A6 Intruder Squadron, we were station out uf Oceana. I wasan Aviation Electronics Mate. I did an east pack on the Ike and half on the Enterprise.
Spent alot of time on the strip. I was a big fan of Bubba's Beach Club and Hammer Heads.
I have gone back and forth from CA to VA since 2004. I had a great trip touring the Blue Ridge. I found that the more South you go... NC - Ashville Area and towards the Smokey Mountains is the most scenic part of the Blue Ridge. They have great towns just off the Ridge... Once you get there you can stop at Guest Services... They have several along the route that will provide maps that includes all the towns. It is unbelievable how forward thinking they were when they started building it. Stop and learn all about it. I have rode all over the US and it was one of the most spectacular rides... I also went in Fall so I hit it at the right time. Enjoy.

VA-75 A-6 Intruder squadron was part of Carrier Airwing 7 (CVW-7) wasn't it? I think you guys were part of our airwing during deployments? Think I actually still have that squadron patch with the red, white & blue eagle on it still?
