Air density .... Humidity ..... all goes along withJuly/Augustweather ........

ORIGINAL: flynavy

Yep ... makes no sence to me too spend all that money on a nice new bike and chrome **** instead of buying a good tuner and haveing it dialed in first ... If it's popping now wait till August...LOL
Why would infrequent popping now be worse come August? The setting on the tuner will not change...the pipes and a/c will not change....can you explain further?

I realize the difference between DFO's and PCIII's, but here's what I noticed on my 05 FXDLI. Prior to my DFO install I had blueing on front and rear header pipes. I removed the blueing (Blue Job), then installed the DFO and dialed it in just to to the point of no decel popping, that in turn made the fuel mix a little rich (just a tad) haven't had any blueing in 1500 miles. If you have the dealer dyno the bikes and set the mix, they are obligated by law to go back to EPA lean. Some might turn a blind eye to the requirement and some stick to the letter of the law. Fly Navy you may have to find some one to help you go a tad rich. Have you checked your plugs to see how they are burning? Good luck.

Senior, What is a "DFO?" I have a Stage I with a V&H fuel pak. My bluing could be from the first 3K I put on the bike when it was stock. There is some gold mixed in toward the outlet of the head.

Navy go out and ride the bike at night for about 20 min or so ..... Come home and let it sit and Idle for a3 or 4 min and look at your head pipes, up where they come out of the head and see if there glowing ....... Make sure it nice and dark and look under the heat sheilds.... You'll find your answer.... Mostly the rear...

Very Bad....Way too Lean ...... Thats whats causing the pipes too turn.. Add some fuel to theIdle circuit, If Vance and Hines will tell you How...Or if it's even possible with a fuel Pak ... I think they stay within EPA's guidelines so they can sell them Legally ..LOL .... You need to get it down from 14.7 to around 13.5... Good Luck ...Save some Money and buy a SERT have it tuned End of all problems, If you think itrun's good now You'll be very surprised.... After all you really don't have anything to compare it too if you haven't Installed a SERT and Had it tuned....Sometime you just have to trust some one that owns a Dyno Center and tunes Bikes for a Living.....Or just Keep guessing.....Whatif... Having the bike dialed in for Maxim Efficiencywill pay off in the Long run.. **** the HP and TQ numbers they mean nothing.... Unless you have built the Motor forjust performance purpose...
