Default small "slice" in seat....

don't even ask how it happened, cause i'm not even sure.... suffice to say, i'm beside myself

anyway, seat is leather....and the slice is about a 1/2 inch in length and it doesn't appear to have gone all the way through...it's very superficial

any ideas?....i was thinking about the Permatex Vinyl and Leather repair kit.... anyone have experience with this?

I tried on of those kits on my boat seats. While it worked on vinyl it still left a larger spot that was more noticable and discolored (white seats). Now I just color match some kiwi flat sheen shoe polish to the leather and rub a little into the leather cut with my finger then wipe off the excess and leave it. Nobody but you will see it.

yeah, i suppose....i just don't want it to get worse.... i'm gonna pick up some leather adhesive and use a very fine-tipped brush to lightly get behind it

I repaired a vinyl seat using Permatex Vinyl and Leather repair kit the one with the heat iron. Not sure how it would work with leather since it melts the existing vinyl to combine with the new stuff.
It turned out good, but I found you don't just set the iron flat on it if it's a thin slice, sort of work your way along using the side/edge of the iron.

Hope this helps.

I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend...

I called dr. vinyl but they want like a hundred dollars and no real guarantees it would come out as I might expect

forget that.... mine as well take my time and do it myself, you know.... i'm gonna practice first on an old leather wrapped helmet first

I hear ya, I took mine to a guy who does auto interiors, he said all could do was recover it but gave me the names of some places that do patches that blend it.
I went to one and they wanted over $200! [sm=WTFsgign.gif] I told him he was outta his mind and they must not do much work, their shop was empty when I was there in the middle of the day. So that's how I ended up doing it myself with the kit. For $10 or $15 how could I go wrong.

BTW do a search on Google for leather repair kits, there were other ones availible online rather than just the Permatex kit.

Good luck and let us know how that stuff works with leather.

you know what....i'm just going to see if i can send this back to C&C....and now that i think of it, i think this was vandalism....i went to a local 99 restaurant last week with a buddy of mine, and i gotta tell yah, there were a few guys who were riding street bikes that had parked about 20 yards away in another spot....my buddy insists the "slice/puncture" was not there when i put the seat on....he went on to tell me how oblivious i was that day when the waitresses and hostess were talking to us, ignoring those "other" bikers...he said it was clear "they" had had too much to drink because they were getting loud

anyway, but that's neither here nor there....that's whatever, you know....i'm gonna contact chuck and see if he can replace the panel....i love this seat...it's one of a kind, and i'll pay for the right guys to fix it, properly
