I'll be replacing my V&H BSS as soon as they fall off.

I replaced mine immediately.

More importantly, though, you should be applauded making a Service Manual one of your first purchases. If only others would follow suite...

Mine were already changed when I bought the bike, I guess they figured if they just knocked it out then I would be more apt to come back for the first service.

I have never heard of anyone actually wearing out a factory HD exhaust system. You have many years & miles to go. Your system will probably corrode away before it wears out. The only issue I have seen is the baffle bolts rust away and the baffles fall out while you are riding. This usually happens if you wash your bike and put it away without starting it and letting all the water in the exhaust system burn off. Check the bolts once a year for rust.

Any exhaust system should last the full life of the bike.

I had new ones installed at the dealer before I took it home.

I got my V&H pipes when the dealer was setting up my bike. I plan on keeping them for the life of the bike. Other items, however, are already scheduled for abandonment.

As soon as the last set makes me deaf enough to require louder pipes so that I can hear them.

I was thinking maybe when you rotate your spark plugs.....I know my mufflers were worn out before the first tank of gas though. I went ahead and replace them just to make sure. I think its called preventative maintenance. Nothing worse than having one of those things go bad while riding.

Never heard of any exhaust just wearing out, but if your married and want new exhaust I believe it is supposed to be changed at 11,000km!
