I just ordered some new wheels for my 07 lowrider. went with 18x5.5 in rear and 21x3.25 in front. To compensate for the larger front wheel i am debating whether to convert to wide glide front or add progressive lowering springs to the front. Drop it about an inch. I know it will be a tight fix under the fender but I have seen a couple members get it done.
What are the pros and cons to me different options. I am thinking the lowering springs will be the least expensive way to go.
I think you should wait until you get the new wheel on and seehownoticeable thedifference in the stance is. You may decide no change is necessary.
Also, did you really think you could post about getting new wheels and not give us any details about them?
I have the order on hold. Iwas going to go with the hogpro 8 spokebut I need to decide if I am going to keep the midglide front or convert to wide glide. It cost $200 for a different hub if I decide to convert after the fact. The front wheel I want is 21x3.25. The tire will probably raise the front of the bike 3/4 inch. The wide glide will compensate for the increased size nicely, but I could just adjust the forks on the trees. Decisions, decisions. Don't want to blow all that money until I am sure!
over thinking this one. There are people who drop the rear and not the front....no probs. There are members running wide glide tubes on Street Bobs really jacking up the front end....no probs. I went 21" x3.5" with a 120/70 21 and did the Wide Glide tree's looks AWESOME with a little extra rake but never did it because of the increased tire diameter. It fits under the fender fine with either the mid glide or wide glide trees. I think "tree extractor" (not sure on exact spelling) did the same tire I did on the mid glide.
