I agree with Joe here. Make sure the dealer isn't trying to have you pay for all the crap. It sounds like they agreed to lower the bike for you as part of the final cost so make sure you don't take the bike or pay for it until they make it to where you're 100% comfortable with it.

Either way, you'll love your Dyna. I got the 08 FXD too. Welcome to the family!

Interesting. I'm 6'4" and my wife is also 5'0", like you. I have 12" progressives and a Lepera Bare Bones seat on my bike and she can touch with her toes on my bike. So, I don't understand the difficulty you are having. If I changed to 11" progressives, I don't see any reason she couldn't straddle it perfectly. Although, I would expect a kickstand issue by going that low.

I'm not an expert, but going to a lower profile rear tire might lower it a little bit. Every little bit might add up to a lot. Of course, the sidestand issue will still have to be resolved.

A couple more thoughts on the LePera seat, first it's plenty comfortable for the kind of riding I do most of the time, commuting 30 min each way or weekend rides in the country.I rarely ride for more than an hour at a time. It's also narrower than your stock seat which will shorten your reach to the ground some more. Now here's the catch, it also moves you back some which may defeat the purpose, or open up a whole new can of worms.

100% ditto on the comfort and riding time on the seat. I did 2 hours back from the beach on it yesterday and that was my first real long ride on it. Right at an hour, though, needed to stop and get the blood flowing back into the ole tushy again. Only needed to stop for a few minutes, though, and was good to go for the next hour. Funny thing is, this seat, to me, does not gradually get uncomfortable. It's like a switch. I'm fine for about an hour and then it I feel the need to stop. I rarely need or want to ride more than an hour without stopping anyway.

I also agree that it moves you back by default which was a good thing for me but may not be for you. However, you may want to consider a company like one of the sponsors here, Mean City Cycles, which can take any seat and fit it to your specifications. Whether you need to move up, back, down, or up, they can do it.

I can touch with the ***** of my feet, however, I don't feel comfortable with that. I prefer to be flat-footed and the salesperson agreed going into this whole thing that is where I should be and where he GUARANTEED he would get me. In reply to another poster, I am 5 feet nothin' ,petite and I am a 28 inch inseam.

I was being nice and understanding about this at first, but now it's to the point of being ridiculous. I can't believe it has taken them this long to figure this out. This H-D dealership is supposed to be one of the premiere dealers in the MidWest. The fact that they couldn't even figure out the kickstand after lowering the bike as much as they did is beyond me.

Ed, I did some research on the Barebones. Initially, it did appear to be the seat that would meet my needs of getting down lower. However, I also read about the LePera UpFront Silhouette, which would bring me 2 1/2" closer to the handle bars, and lower me somewhat. Have you heard of this seat? Has anyone?

Thanks again. I am feeling more and more empowered after reading all of your replies!

I have not heard of it although it sounds like it might be just the ticket.Lepera makes excellent seats and the prices are very reasonable.I don't mean to be insensitive I've been riding forever and have owned and ridden many bikes that I could not plant both feet firmly on the ground in reality you do not need both feet to hold up a bike otherwise you would need two kickstands. If you can get the ***** of both feet down that would be enough to hold the bike up and roll it backwards into a parking spot.I would not let 1/2" of seat hieght keep you from riding your bike.If they get it close and they fix the kick stand take that sucker home you can fuss over the last 1/2" later.

I haven't seen the upfront model but it's logical that they would make one. The regular Silhouette Solo and the Bare Bones are essentially the same seat except for the cover which means they would both scoot you back over stock. Some people aren't going to want or need that. So, it makes sense that they would make an "up front" version just like HD sells the "reach seat".

Given where my 5'0", petite, wife stood on my bike with 12" progressives and the bare bones, I still find it hard to believe that the same or similar seat with some 11.5" or 11" shocks wouldn't put you right where you want to be.

Why go thru all that crap? Should of picked a bike you fit to begin with IMHO. The stock seats suck as it is, with 2" removed it will be totally useless for your butt, you'll be too sore to ride the bus! Your dealer must be retarded or something, desperate maybe, but he should of had you try different bikes and not b.s.ed you into the SG. How much are all these modifications costing you? Surely the dealer isn't eating the labor, they never do. I really for bad for you, you could be on the road with the wind in your hair already if you had a saleman that didn't have his head up his azzzzzzzzz.

2007 fxdc: Thankyou for your reply. You bring up an interesting point. I SHOULD flat foot with these mods, and yet...? I am so fed up at this point that I really think they just didn't do what they said they were going to do...I don't trust them anymore.

The seat that they re-worked (stock) was taken back to the same guy TWICE to get it right. WTF???? How hard is it to tell a custom seat guy..."I have a gal who's 5feet and needs to reach flat foot...do you know how to do that??" I mean...ARGH!

Why go through all that? Well, I had NO IDEA it would be this difficult because the sales guy said, "No problem." And, I did enough research on bikes to know that, being of my stature, you do have to lower almost any bike to get closer to the ground.

What am I paying for this?? Absolutely NOTHING. I will NOT pay for anything, including labor (please)...The GM of the dealership promised me that if it was not ready to deliver by last Friday, then all the new mods they have done (front forks) will be "on them." Works for me. As I mentioned earlier, I negotiated the rear shocks and seat into the final price.

I think at this point, as far as this thread goes, I'm just venting. And I appreciate everyone's replies. I am beyond upset at this point, but it is what it is. Lesson learned. Never buy, service, etc. from this particular dealership, and I WILL let everyone know.

P.S. I did order the LePera Barebones Upfront seat and hopefully that will get me down and not the "custom seat" that is currently on that was re-worked a million times that looks like crap!

Thanks for letting me rant.
