Stage 1 advice

Well put. But if they are going for a dyno tune they will need a SERT, or some other way into the ECM. You can't Dyno tune a bike otherwise, is my understanding......( see how the ball gets rolling?)

You can still dyno-CHECK your bike though to see what numbers you are pulling and, more importantly, how your air/fuel ratio is set. You can't dyno-tune a stock bike or even with a fuelpak or IED's, but you can dyno-check it to see how it is running.

I was telling people to do the stage 1 and get it checked, then go from there. I didn't need a module and don't believe everyone does. Just make savvy decisions.
Dangerous? nah.......I never said to "not worry about it"........but don't go spending a bunch of money because someone tells you you need it when you may not.......

My point, though, is that we all have differing opinions on what works and how to do it. It's fine to argue the virtues of the fuelpak vs. PCIII or SERT, because at least if you have one of those, you have done something. But, telling people not to worry about it or that it's a racket, is just plain dangerous advice.

Look I think this is a good forum. I wouldn't tell people to do things I wouldn't do. I, just like everyone else in here, have lots of money tied up and wouldn't want to have anything bad happen.
But, I don't like being taken advantage of or seeing others being taken advantage of. I think in most cases on here it's quitepossible thatpeople with stage 1 (and a remap and fuel injection)have been taken for a ride on the fuel management, especially if they didn't have it dyno checked first.I'm just trying to inform people of my experience and hopefully they can use this info to defend themselves against pickpockets and make a more educated decision. I know there are a lot of people on here who just want a nicer sounding better looking bike so pipes and stage 1 it is. They're not out to set the world on fire with HP gains, etc. There is a lot of misinformation out there about this stuff too. But the data that I shareis the real deal. I have the readouts.
So my intent is not malicious. I'm trying to be informative. That's all.

My intent is not to call you out personally which is why I did not initially give your screen name. I've seen others in these same threads saying they put pipes and a/c's on with no tuning, etc. I was simply suggesting, requesting that we, as a forum, don't go giving bad or misleading advice on this subject as it has expensive consequences.

I did a full exhaust upgrade with stage 1 and no tune. Had it dyno'd for A/F rationumbers too and it's fine. Stealers are going to try to tell you you NEED a SERT.......don't believe the hype.
Tuners are not necessary with stage 1. It's a money racket.

Spend the money. I just replaced my FuelPak with the ThunderMax/AutoTune and it made all the difference in the world. Any non believers can come over and take my bike for a ride........It rips..
I am so glad my scoot runs perfect and I don't have to go thru all the bs alot of people do. I use Cycle Shack slip ons to get some noise out of it. I use Amsoil in all 3 holes, 20-50,10-40,75-90. My bike does not run hot. It is fast as I could ever want. It runs smooth. If I had the issues that people CLAIM they have with it all stock I would have it back at the dealer until resolved orI wouldn't keep the damn thing and I sure wouldn't keep throwing money into it. I see claims of 10 more hp by doing fuel management, pipes, a/c, ect. wow, how impressive..........not. Maybe when I was 12 years old.
Look, people make decisions to get pipes and stage 1because they WANT them. My stage 1 included a factory remap, not a tuner. Then they're told they NEED atuner when that may not be the case as my experience has shown me. My advice is to get it checked and then decide. Plain and simple. That is far from bad or misleading. Most people don't WANTa tunerbut are roped in and do it because they are uneducated and uninformed on the topic. That, my friend, is being taken advantage of and is a MONEY RACKET! If that has happened to you, then I'm sorry to hear that.
I personally think that telling people they need a tuner without dyno-checking it first is ignorantadvice, myself.
