Ok, I did a search in the Dyna and tech forum but didn't find what I'm looking for. I'm changing fluids in the bike and using the instructions in the owners manual, real book hasn't come yet. Anyway, for the primary drain plug, the instructions state 30-60in-lb for the torque. But, the diagram on the next page shows 14-21 ft-lb torque like the rest of the plugs. What gives? Which do I use? BTW, '07 Lowrider with the o-ring style plugs. Thanks for the help guys! Now, to get the damn derby cover screws out!!! [:@]
Normally I'm ok with the "gootentite" myself. But I've got these high dollar Snap On torque wrenches just laying around BEGGING to be used! Thanks guys, I'll go put a little more on 'er!
I torque most everything I can find a spec for. If I didn't torque them, I'd tend to over-tighten everything, "just to be safe." You see lots of posts on various boards asking for help to remove stripped torx and allen bolts (sometimes it is because they used the wrong size bit). It takes a bit more time, but it's worth it. OTOH some folks have done it so many times, they have a built-in biological torque wrench.
For all my drain plugs and cover screws, I use my "bio-wrench", but for important stuff like axle nuts, fork pinch bolts, etc, I use the torque wrench. Probably should use the wrench for everything, but I currently only have a big a$$ 1/2 inch drive wrench. Need to get an inch pound one.
