The Le Pera Bare Bones is obviously a lower ride, that is why I am considering it.
But what I a can not figure out from the descriptions or photos is will it move me back?
I am looking for lower and the same as stock or a bit closer - just not back.
I have a bare bones for my 07 wg. it seems to be a couple of inches lower and sets you back a couple of inches. I'm rather tall and with the forward controls it's very comfortable. however not alot of padding so stick to short rides or smooth roads.
I have one on my 2000 FXDL it is very low but I didn't notice too much set back with it. If I hit the gas hard my butt slides up the back. It also kind of hard, I haven't had it on very long I hear it takes about 400 miles for it to break in but I'm not sure that's true.
Whether the Bare Bones will move you back or not depends on the seat you are comparing it to.
I havean OEM 07 FXDCon my 06 FXDI. I used this two up seat because it moved me back further than previous seats (a Wide Glide seat, a Low Rider seat, and a Bob solo seat).
I did not find the Bare Bones moved me back compared to the FXDC two up. I believe it would have moved me back compared to the other stock seats I listed above.
There isn't any rigid support on the bare bones like a lot of cushier seats so, there is the opportunity to move around if you like - including moving back some. I got mine because I wanted to go lower and back and it's perfect for me. However, I can also scoot up on it and stay there without feeling like I'm sliding backwards as well.
I ordered one last week directly from Le Pera, it wont ship till the 12th. They said they are made when theyre ordered. I got the one with the Gel insert. By the time I get it, it will be ready for Rolling Thunder and that should give me an idea of the comfort of it. Tho I probably wont have it broken in by then.
